BIG BOX OFFICE
Now’s the time to get your tickets to the Vancouver Queer Film Festival, running Aug. 16-26.
With 75 films from 16 countries screening over 11 days, the 24th Annual Vancouver Queer Film Festival is the largest gay arts festival in Western Canada. Over 14,000 people attend the event’s films, discussions and queer community-building forums every year, meaning the rush for tickets to the most buzz-worthy movies and popular parties can get pretty hectic. And you know how much you hate it when you get to the theatre and your show is sold out…
You don’t want to miss out on events like the Opening Gala screening of the twink-licious German flick Romeos, Friends & Company’s movie and a mingler with director Matthew Mishory of the sleek and sexy Joshua Tree, 1951: A Portrait of James Dean (pictured) or the PINQ-sponsored coming-of-ager, North Sea Texas, do you?
Or, if you’re in the mood for a little East Side slide (and the chance to help put together a unicorn jigsaw puzzle with award-winning author Amber Dawn… No, really.) stop by Rhizome Café (317 E. Broadway) this Saturday from 2pm to 5 pm and purchase your tickets in person (cash only).
Either way, get ready for some ‘mo movie magic.
