Yaletown’s Raw Canvas evolves into a hip hangout for art, food and wine.

Last year, we told you about the opening of Raw Canvas, a full-service paint-on-canvas art studio in Yaletown. Buy a canvas (prices range from $45 to $150) and they provide paints, brushes, and all the supplies you’ll need to create your own masterpiece. So what could make this unique space even cooler? A liquor license!

The accompanying cafe has transformed into a hip wine bar, complete with new bar seating, a well-priced list of local and imported wines and a selection of artisan cheese and charcuterie plates.

The eclectic antique decor and relaxed atmosphere provide a welcome reprieve from Yaletown’s “see-and-be-seen” hot spots. What was once a hangout for the artsy, now proudly welcomes the thirsty.
