CONTEST: DEAD MAN SINGING

CONTEST: DEAD MAN SINGING

Win tickets to the Vancouver Opera Festival’s premiere of “Dead Man Walking.”

With the launch of its inaugural Vancouver Opera Festival, Vancouver Opera is continuing on its quest to cultivate a new and younger audience. Not surprising, then, that one of the Fest’s marquee productions happens to be one of the most lauded and performed modern operas of the 21st century.

Queer composer Jake Heggie’s Dead Man Walkingfeaturing a powerful libretto by queer playwright Terrence McNally, is based on the true-life book by Sister Helen Prejean and the popular 1995 Oscar-nominated film starring Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon.

Internationally acclaimed Canadian bass-baritone Daniel Okulitch (pictured) will sing the role of convicted murderer Joseph De Rocher while the role of Sister Helen Prejean will be sung by the sensational American mezzo-soprano J’Nai Bridges.

Best of all, one lucky PINQ subscriber will win two tickets to the performance on Tuesday, May 2 at 7:30pm.

To win a pair of tickets to Dead Man Walking on Tuesday, May 2, email us at contest@pinq.ca by midnight on Sunday, April 23. We’ll contact the winner via email. And, as always, you must be a PINQ subscriber to win! If you don’t win, check out the event info below. Good Luck!
