CURTAIN CALL

Atomic Vaudeville’s Ride the Cyclone is a morbidly funny musical that’s killing ‘em in the aisles on Granville Island.
Calling all theatre queens! And all the goth kids who will eventually become theatre queens… You simply must go see Ride the Cyclone, the award-winning musical by Victoria’s Atomic Vaudeville that has taken the country by storm.
A Frankenstein-style mash-up between Glee (when it was good for those four episodes in Season 1) and Night of the Living Dead, Ride the Cyclone is the story of the teenaged singers of Uranium, Saskatchewan’s St. Cassian Chamber Choir (pictured), who die in a roller coaster accident at a traveling fair. Each of the six soloists is given a chance to take the stage for the last time, and among the freaks and geeks is the femme and fabulous (and we mean FABULOUS!) Noel Gruber (Kholby Wardell), who brings the house down with his Ute Lemper-style cabaret torcher “Fucked-Up Girl.”
With a Toronto producer envisioning a big-stage production and several comparisons to Broadway-conquering Canadian musical The Drowsy Chaperone, this may be your last chance to see the kids of St. Cassian’s perform without booking a flight East.
