Get your tickets to CeCe Peniston live at Chocolate Milk on Pride Thursday.
There was a time, long ago, when CeCe Peniston‘s dance hit, “ target=”_blank”>Finally,” was the “Call Me Maybe” of its day.
The year was 1991, and the former Ohio beauty queen could be heard on every radio station singing about finding the perfect man “with brown cocoa skin and curly black hair.” She could also be seen on every video channel shimmying in an oh-so-fashionable-at-the-time black bell-bottomed catsuit and a ratted-out bob.
And while she had a follow-up hit (“We Got A Love Thang”) it was “Finally” that got a second chart-topping life when it was included in the groundbreaking 1994 drag movie target=”_blank”>The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Peniston went on to form a gospel group and performed for the Pope. Meanwhile, she headlined The Cuff’s annual Street Party at Seattle Pride.
Talk about multi-tasking.
And now CeCe is coming to Vancouver on August 2nd for a special Pride Week performance at Shine’s Thursday night classic house and dance night, Chocolate Milk.
We hate to be obvious, but, Finally!
