THE NOT-SO-WHITE STRIPES

THE NOT-SO-WHITE STRIPES

Once again, we’re a sucker for stripes …

Once again, we’re a sucker for stripes …

The major dilemma for most people looking to buy art is whether the painting in question will work hanging over their sofa. Canadian painter James Lahey inadvertently puts minds at ease with his latest exhibition, Guido’s Rhombus.

Inspired by the artist’s friendship with iconic Canadian abstract painter Guido Molinari, the brightly-striped lozenge-shaped pieces have the energy, style, and (most importantly) laid-back decorative flair of a set of Paul Smith throw pillows. So you know they’ll fit right in. That said, their impressive size (approximately 7 x 6 feet), all but ensure they won’t be hanging over the couch but on a feature wall all their own.

James Lahey at the Winsor Gallery
3025 Granville St.
Until February 28.
