DINNER AND A SHOW

Grabbing a pre-theatre bite on the East Side just got easier thanks to the Cultch’s Founders’ Lounge.

We here at PINQ know that balancing a night of theatre and and a decent dinner isn’t always a tough act. If you’re seeing La Cage at the Playhouse, Chambar’s just a sashay down the road. Going to Blood Brothers? C Restaurant is just a short Aquabus trip across False Creek.

But due to a lack of dining options near The Cultch, ticket holders for Penny Plain, master puppeteer Ronnie Burkett’s (pictured) latest work of sheer brilliance, might have found their options for a pre-curtain supper rather limited. That’s all changed now because the team behind Gastown’s Two Chefs and a Table restaurant has begun offering full service in the East Side theatre’s new Founders’ Lounge. The intimate 33-seat room — literally right offstage — offers up an edited collection of locally-sourced, French-inspired small plates and shared platters that make for the perfect light meal before a show. Snack on the organic tomato soup with a mini grilled cheese and prawn cocktail or tuck into coq au vin and boeuf bourguignon.

Either way, you’ll want to give the Founders’ Lounge a standing ovation.
