IN WHEEL LIFE

Get rolling with Rollerblade champion Leon Basin’s free inline skating lessons at Sunset Beach every Sunday.

So, you know how the ‘90s are coming back in vogue (or En Vogue)? Surely you’ve noticed the return of the boy bands and all those ‘90s themed nights like Chocolate Milk! popping up around town. With the decade of Pepsi Clear and Pokémon rearing its head once again, it was only a matter of time before inline skating made its way back onto the scene.

But it’s been years since you strapped skates to your feet. You’re out of practice.

Luckily, Leon Basin is here to help.

A certified instructor, former four-time Israeli Rollerblade champ and 2001 Canadian National Champion, Basin is just the guy to get you back on your feet, er, wheels. (Yep, that’s him in the picture skating up a wall!)

Whether you’re a beginner hoping to survive your first time or an expert looking for a few new tricks, Basin, owner of Shop-Task, Canada’s largest online Rollerblade store, can show you some of his award-winning moves. Best of all, it’s free.

That’s right, every Sunday at 5 pm at the Sunset Beach rink (you know, where the cute boys play roller hockey), Basin gives free lessons to the public. If you like what you’ve learned you can stick around for the free 7 pm SeaRoll, a sunset run around Stanley Park.

And who knows, you might even meet a hot boy on blades to circle the Seawall with. We like to call that Meals on Wheels.
