SO LONG, FAREWELL…

SO LONG, FAREWELL…

Say goodbye to the Comox Street Long Bar & Grill tomorrow night.

There are two things you can’t stop in Vancouver: time and real estate speculation. That’s why the latest issue of Vancouver Magazine is dedicated to “25 Reasons to Love Vancouver Right Now” (emphasis ours).

One of those 25 Reasons is The Comox Street Long Bar & Grill and tomorrow, Vancouver Magazine is hosting Closing Time at the Comox, a chance to bid adieu to the storied neighbourhood watering hole.

After 33 years of continuous, 365-day-a-year service, The Comox will be closing its doors to the public on this month, after which the Coast Plaza Hotel and Suites will be converted into a rental tower.

The last of the West End’s dive bars, it has played host to countless live bands, hockey nights, community fundraisers and karaoke performances under the humming blaze of its twin teal-and-raspberry neon signs — one of which is headed for the Museum of Vancouver’s permanent neon collection.

So, tomorrow night, help send the old gal out in style.

CLOSING TIME AT THE COMOX
Tomorrow, 5 to 7:30pm at The Comox Street Bar (1763 Comox St.)
