Davie Street’s Mardi Gras returns to raise a little hell and some much-needed funds for Friends For Life.
With provincial liquor laws forcing the cancellation of all movie screenings at the Rio Theatre — including the monthly Friends of Dorothy Queer Film Series — we began to wonder if Vancouver was headed back into No Fun City territory. But, just when things looked their darkest, a group of Davie Street bars have banded together to bring back a beloved pub crawl from the past.
On Saturday, Feb. 25, Mardi Gras will turn the gaybourhood into New Orlean’s French Quarter. A $10 wristband, available at Little Sister’s (1238 Davie St.) and Priape (1148 Davie St.) will get you into Fountainhead, Numbers, PumpJack, Oasis, Junction and Celebrities with VIP line privileges. Celebrities will host the fabulous Mardi Gras Ball, complete with beads, masks, more beads and industrial-strength levels of glitter. Best of all, every cent goes to Friends For Life.
And who knows, you may meet a Big Easy of your own…
