Zee Zee Theatre raises funds for Chechen gays.

It’s been four years since Russia’a anti-gay propaganda laws pushed Zee Zee Theatre into action, commissioning a series of 10-minute plays for a fundraiser called NYET.

Four years later, reports of torture and murder at gay concentration camps operated by the Chechen regime and unchallenged by the Russian government have shocked the world and urged Zee Zee Theatre produce NYET: Again.

An evening of new play readings followed by a panel discussion, all proceeds will benefit Toronto-based Rainbow Railroad‘s work evacuating Chechnya’s at-risk LGBTQ+ population, as well as those of many other countries where homosexuality is punishable by state-sanctioned violence, jail time or even death.

Yesterday, Russian authorities beat and arrested LGBT activists protesting against the Chechen crisis. It’s more critical than ever for the West to show its support.
