This year, as hordes of people descend on Vancouver for the Olympic Games, romantic tables on Valentine’s Day will be few and far between. Although some restaurants are still accepting reservations, many of the top tables in town are already booked.

As an alternative, the Dr. Peter AIDS Foundation is asking you to avoid the chaos, stay at home and donate what you would have spent on dinner. In return, they will send you recipes and wine pairings (supplied by Vancouver’s most romantic restaurant – Le Gavroche) for an intimate “do-it-yourself” Valentine’s Day dinner at home. Le Gavroche will even throw in a $25 gift certificate for all donations of $100 or more.
