In the mood for romance? The perfect lovers’ getaway is only a Helijet ride away.
Today’s the day for love. Or if you’re like us, it’s the day for Netflix and chill (that’s what we call watching sappy movies with a pint of Earnest Salted Caramel ice cream).
Since chocolates and roses are so cliché, why not surprise your special someone with a romantic weekend away to Victoria?
LOVE IS IN THE AIR
“This ferry lineup is so romantic” – said no one ever. There’s only one way to arrive in Victoria in style – Helijet. With 10 flights a day, Helijet gets you from downtown Vancouver to the Victoria Harbour in a mere 35 minutes. In other words, that’s boardroom to bedroom in less than an hour!
A ROOM WITH A VIEW
The Inn at Laurel Point is a boutique waterfront hotel on the west side of Victoria’s Inner Harbour, originally designed by award-winning architect Arthur Erickson. With breathtaking harbour views just off its balconies (pictured) and oversized marble bathrooms complete with deep soaker tubs, it’s the perfect spot for seduction. Be sure to request a room in the newer Erickson wing, and book one of their romance packages (which include the always-needed late checkout) – you just need to decide if you are naughty or nice.
To add a couple’s massage to your romantic retreat, check out Victoria’s only oceanfront spa at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel. A quick 10-minute drive from downtown, the oceanfront oasis features three therapeutic mineral baths just steps from the Salish Sea, where guests can relax before and after their treatments. Just think of it as the Scandinave spa, but with more whale sightings.
TABLE FOR TWO
When gazing into each other’s eyes for three courses just isn’t enough, you gotta go for a five-course tasting menu. At Saveur, award-winning chef Robert Cassels serves up playful seasonally inspired tasting menus (including a vegetarian option). While you enjoy dishes like seared albacore tuna with guava ponzu and glazed Sakura pork with a charred onion puree, you and your sweetheart can think of all the dirty things you’ll want to do to each other later (but will be too full to actually do).
