Just in time for Victoria Pride: a round up of of a city fit for a queen.

We recently booked a weekend getaway to the provincial capital in order to scope out the best the city has to offer in advance of Victoria Pride (June 29-July 6). What we found was a toddlin’ town with a renewed foodie scene, killer craft cocktails and some pretty fab stuff to do.

Sure you can take the BC Ferries, but when you add up the cost of passengers and a car, Harbour Air is a very attractive, 40-minute-each-way option. Plus, with parking and valet rates, you don’t really want a car in Victoria — unless you’re planning to head out to the ‘burbs.

Centrally located and suitably luxurious for a queenly visit, the boutique Magnolia Hotel & Spa (pictured) is one of Canada’s Top 25 luxury hotels according to TripAdvisor. It gets even better with the “Made for Men” package (lol, package) that includes two premium whiskey flights crostini at the Catalano Restaurant & Cicchetti Bar to get your night going as well as continental breakfast for two for the next morning.

Cocktail hour is serious business in Vic-city, what with the new bar-forward restaurants setting up shop across town. Two of our faves are the tiki bar at North 48 for the ultimate banana daquiri and perfectly balanced Negronis with house-made charcuterie plate at the somewhat hidden gem that is Little Jumbo.

Get bike-curious with The Pedaler, a Euro-style bike tour series that offers several custom tours. You like coffee? Try the Beans & Bites. Want a little buzz on the beer scene? The Hoppy Hour tours Canada’s undisputed capital of microbrews. The four-hour Eat.Drink.Pedal tour stops at eight different culinary hotspots. Work off the samples as you go… Added bonus: Magnolia Hotel & Spa is offering special Pedal & Pamper tours that includes a discounted room rate and the tour of your choice.
