WELCOME TO PINQ - THE VANCOUVER EDITION

WRITERS

PINQ is all about providing cutting-edge advice to keep Vancouver’s gay community in the know. We’ve assembled an editorial team that consists of some of Vancouver’s most-knowledgeable and most-fabulous authorities on style with resumes that include popular local blogs as well as top-tier local and national media.

We’ve got stylists, food & drink experts, DJs, local artists, personal trainers, and even a drag queen thrown in for good measure.

In alphabetical order …

Ryan Bazeley - Total food and music nerd. Ryan’s the publicist for some of Vancouver’s top restaurants, as well as one of Vancouver’s most popular gay DJs. He’s got the inside scoop on Vancouver’s most exciting new restaurants and food & wine events, as well as the hottest new music.

Catherine DunwoodyOne close friend describes her as “Wonder Woman, but with better shoes.” As a writer, stylist and TV personality, she contributes to Nuvo, Travel + Leisure, Western Living, Style at Home, Men’s Health, People, The Shopping Bags, and MTV, and is the “go-to” gal for style advice for all her gay best friends.

Joan-E – This is a woman who needs no introduction. The Odyssey’s Feather Boa is one of Vancouver’s most popular and longest-running drag shows and is hosted each week by the incomparable Joan-E. She’s fierce, she’s funny, she’s fabulous … and she’s never at a loss for words.

Kalev Jaguste – Kalev, our resident fitness guru, runs his own highly successful personal training company, Kalev Training, which is staffed by experts in weight training, cardio and nutrition. He’s also very very nice to look at. He’s straight, but with abs like his, we don’t judge.

Fred Lee - Covering events for CBC Radio One, The Courier, TV Week, Look Magazine and the National Post, Fred is Vancouver’s consummate social butterfly. Whether it’s an A-list red-carpet event, a fabulous fundraiser or must-attend gala, it’s just not a party if Fred Lee isn’t there.

Patrick Levesque – Patrick is the co-owner of masc in Yaletown, one of Vancouver’s only skincare stores specifically for men. He spent years researching the best skin care lines and most-effective products so you don’t have to.

Patrick Maziarski – With an already lengthy list of film and television experience under his belt, this boy definitely knows entertainment! Having worked with CTV and on a slew of productions, he’s got the inside scoop on Vancouver’s entertainment industry.

Yogi Omar – Yogi works for both the Vancouver International and Vancouver Queer film festivals. He has over 3000 DVDs (alphabetized) and is one of the few people who can claim to get most of his Oscar picks right each year.

Craig Parkes - Craig is a local designer who eats, sleeps and breathes interior design. His work has been featured in Canadian House & Home and Style at Home, and his apartment is nicer than yours.

Steven Schelling - As the Arts & Style editor for the Westender, as well contributing author to Vancouver Magazine and Western Living, Steven is one of Western Canada’s foremost style gurus. After moving from New York in 2004, Steven has made it his lifelong mission to help Vancouver dress better.

Ryan Steele – Maybe it’s his killer sense of humor or his killer smile, but either way “The Ryan Steele Show” has developed an almost cult-like following (seriously, he has over 2000 friends on Facebook). As an up-and-coming performer, Ryan brings us an insiders view into Vancouver’s performing arts community.
